Sunshine Kids at Waimea!
Last Tuesday we were super blessed to be able to sponsor an event put on by the Waimea Bay Lifeguards in collaboration with the Sunshine Kids. These are teenagers from all over the country who are battling cancer and are given the opportunity to take a little vacay (away from their parents) to HAWAI'I! How awesome is that?!
Sunshine Kids' Mission Statement:
• The Sunshine Kids Foundation adds quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities, so they may once again do what kids are supposed to do . . . have fun and celebrate life! (source: sunshinekids.org)
Lifeguards, professional big wave surfers, local North Shore watermen, and friends joined to give The Sunshine Kids a fabulous (and safe) day at the beach. We played in the ocean with boogie boards, stand-up paddle boards, longboards, and other fun floatie toys. Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational competitors Mark Healy and Noah Johnson were there to sign autographs, and we were able to get several sponsors to provide goods for a stacked prize packet for each of the teens. Clark Little even showed up with his fancy water camera housing to shoot photos of us in the water!
Such a blessed day, stoked to have been a part of such a great day!!
ALOHA!!
Thanks to Brooke out in Hawaii for the info!
